Jacaranda, built in 1946 in Aahus

Our customers love old wooden boats. To be accurate they love old nordic folkboats. So, for a long while we asked ourself how to offer something very special within this niche…!?
Then Jacaranda came along.

Jacaranda Historie

She is a really old lady, built in 1946 in the danish Aarhus shipyard. She is the oldest still existing danish folkboat. With  sailnumber F D 3  and her former name „Bonny“ she was brought into service.
The F D 1 „Peter Pan“ was sold to San Francisco but unfortunately she was lost later on in San Franciscobay.

As a matter of fact F D 2 was built, but who knows why, 10cm too long, so she wasn’t class rule conform and the sailnumber available again. Now F D 2 is the sailnumber of  swedish folkboat „Gill“.
And F D 3 is our Jacaranda, former „Bonny“.

That’s for sure: No older folkboat was built in Germany ever, they started building folkboats first in the 1950’s. And there is definitv no older in Denmark.
We try to explore if there are older swedish boats around, any help appreciated!

Jacaranda now is in Germany for quite a long time, and the new sailnumber is F G 3.

Presently we refit the boat interieur. We try to stay close to the original, just making concessions for safety reasons like electrical wiring. If there is somebody around who has access to contemporary pictures we really would appreciate to get copies.

Jacaranda really is very special, so we don’t want to deny her other folkboatenthusiasts. Besides normal charter weeks we would like to attend classic regattas with guests on board.
As soon as the dates for classic regattas 2014 are known, we will publish them on our website. Everyone interested may apply for a participation.

We are pretty sure to have a lot of fun with new old Jacaranda this year.

Cheers
your klassisch-am-wind team
Katja and Mike
